Agartala, Apr 3: The G-20 (Science-20) meeting on 'Clean Energy for Greener Future' was held at International Indoor Exhibition Hall, Agartala on Monday.
In the Conference delegates from 19 countries and European Union have participated.
The world is facing unprecedented environmental issues and immediate actions are needed to make effective progress in achieving a sustainable future for the future generations, said principal Scientific Adviser of India Ajay Sood.
Sood was delivering an introductory speech at the two-day Science Summit (S20) under India’s G20 Presidency that started at Indoor Exhibition Hall in Hapania International Fair Ground on Monday. In the S20, delegates held deliberations on ‘Clean Energy for a Greener Future’ with emphasis on ‘green’ hydrogen and Ocean energy.
The S20 in Agartala brought together Indian and foreign scientists, policymakers like Niti Aayog and concerned stakeholders to explore solutions for clean energy that will fuel sustainable development.
With growing threats due to climate change, experts are batting for green and blue energy to save the planet, earth. Hydrogen is the ‘green’ solution and ocean energy is the ‘blue’ solution.
Sood identified three sub-topics for deliberations in the S20 conference. While green hydrogen and energy from Ocean are the two themes, another crucial point is energy storage, he said and added, lack of proper energy storage is a big challenge and we need to look beyond lithium electro-chemistry.
According to experts, disruptive Science plays an important role in finding out new ways of combating the present day challenges by leveraging emerging technologies or by exploring hitherto unexplored possibilities.
Experts also stressed greater cooperation among the countries in a world of opposing realities.
The S20 in Agartala was preceded by the Science20 inception meeting held in Puducherry and based on the discussions in the inception meeting; experts are carrying forward their scientific ideas and thoughts to find environment friendly solutions for a greener future.
