On Monday, a five-member delegation from the Tipra Student Federation (TSF) submitted a deputation to the Director of the Tribal Welfare Department, Subhasis Das, demanding immediate release of pending scholarships for tribal students.Â
Â
The deputation highlighted the urgent crisis faced by a large section of students who, even in the 2024–25 financial year, have not yet received their entitled scholarships.
Â
Speaking to the media after the deputation, TSF vice- president John Debbarma stressed that the authorities must comply with the demand without delay. He warned that the prolonged inaction was causing severe hardship among economically weaker tribal families, whose children depend entirely on the scholarship funds to continue their education.
Â
Debbarma added, "The delay in disbursement has left thousands of students in distress, with families struggling to meet basic academic expenses".Â
Â
The student leaders called for accountability from the Tribal Welfare Department, urging swift administrative action to resolve the crisis.
