Mounting frustration over stalled scholarship payments boiled over on Wednesday as students staged a protest at the OBC Welfare Department, accusing officials of neglect and indifference that is jeopardizing their education.
Â
The demonstrators, many of whom have been waiting for months for their scholarship funds, said repeated visits to the department have yielded nothing but assurances that “money is unavailable.” Officials reportedly asked them to return at the end of the month, a response that further inflamed tempers.
Â
Students argued that the uncertainty has left them unable to pay tuition fees, exposing them to harassment from institutions and even risking their ability to sit for examinations. “We are being pushed to the edge. Without these scholarships, continuing our studies is becoming impossible,” one protester said.
Â
Through the agitation, the protesters highlighted a deeper crisis in student welfare, with financial instability threatening to derail academic careers. They warned that unless pending scholarships are released immediately, they will escalate their movement into a larger campaign in the coming days.
