As part of the month‑long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, a combined tree plantation and cleanliness drive was organized on Sunday at Ward No. 31 of Agartala Municipal Corporation. The programme reflected the campaign’s core message of public service, blending environmental conservation with civic responsibility.
The event began at the Ward Office premises, where saplings were planted under the Prime Minister’s call of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” Organizers highlighted the importance of green initiatives in preserving the environment, promoting greenery, and ensuring a healthier future for the next generation.
Following the plantation, a cleanliness drive was conducted at the nearby Kali Temple compound, where volunteers and leaders joined hands to sweep and clear the premises.
Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee personally took part in the campaign, wielding a broom alongside workers and residents. He emphasized that the effort was not only about cleaning spaces but also about spreading awareness of sanitation and environmental consciousness among the public.
The programme saw active participation from Ward 31 Corporator Anjana Das, Banamalipur Mandal president Arindam Choudhury, and several BJP leaders and workers. Their presence underscored the collective push to make the Abhiyan a success at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the event, Rajib Bhattacharjee said, “I extend heartfelt appreciation to all organizers and workers for their tireless efforts in keeping our surroundings clean. This campaign reflects our responsibility towards society and our commitment to a cleaner, healthier environment.”
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, launched nationwide, has been marked by diverse programmes including tree plantation, health camps, and social welfare initiatives. Sunday’s drive in Ward 31 added momentum to the campaign, reinforcing the twin messages of service and good governance.
