Agartala, July 27: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and the Tripura Student Union (TSU) began protest movement across the state from Wednesday against the government over teachers’ crisis and demanded for recruitment of teachers in different schools of the state to meet the crisis.
A large number of SFI and TSU workers and supporters walked on a protest rally here at Agartala on Wednesday, where the SFI state secretary Sandipan Deb held the government responsible for the students’ protest in various parts of the state in demand of teachers.
He said, “In this present situation, where the government has completely failed to recruit over 3000 TET qualified aspirants, the students in various schools of the state have now come to the streets in demand of teachers.”
“This movement against the government is also a part of showing solidarity to the students who are protesting against government over teachers’ crisis,” he said, adding that at a time when over 3000 TET qualified teachers had fulfilled all criteria for filling up the vacant posts of teachers of different categories, government had announced to recruit only 600 teachers, but almost all the government run schools in various parts of the state including the ADC areas are reeling under acute teachers’ crisis.
He said that the protest movement shall continue till July 31 next and demanded the government to initiate recruitment of teachers soon to meet the crisis.
