Shifting of Brus underway in Tripura

Agartala, April 6: The process for shifting of the Bru people displaced from Mizoram is underway in 11 locations of the state, an official said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference, Principal Secretary of the Revenue department Puneet Agarwal said, as per the quadripartite agreement signed between the Centre, Government of Tripura, Government of Mizoram and Bru leaders, 6302 Bru families are being settled in the state.
He said, construction of 3,249 houses has already been completed. The Bru families have been given Rs. 1.50 lakh each in three instalments for the house construction. Besides, RoR, Ration Cards, Aadhar Cards, ST Certificates, PRTC, MGNREGA Job Card and Voter Cards have been provided to the resettled families.
The Principal Secretary also said, 800 Aapda Mitras have been imparted training, Ham Radio stations have been set up in the state and district emergency operation centres and three repeater stations have been introduced at Gomati, Dhalai and West Tripura districts for disaster management.
He said, ‘The Indian Stamp (Tripura 6th amendment) 2023 Bill’ was passed in the recently-concluded Assembly Session. The Bill aims at women empowerment.
Agarwal also spoke on introduction of online service in the Land Records and Settlement department.
Special Secretary of Revenue department Anindya Bhattacharjee, Director of Land Records and Settlement department Ratnajit Debbarma and State Project Officer of Disaster Management- Sharat Das were present in the press conference.
