As the monsoon season nears its end and preparations for the upcoming festive season begin, South Tripura District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P. on Monday inspected various on-going development projects under the Satchand Block.
Accompanying him were South Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shibjyoti Dutta, Satchand Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Prabhas Lodh, BDO Anupam Das, RD officer Sanjit Reang, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Nipendra Reang, and officials from several departments.
During the visit, the District Magistrate inspected the newly-constructed concrete bridge connecting Harina and Chaltachari. The delegation also visited the Manughat Rural Health Centre, roads in the Mandalipara area, and the Bottola market.
One key stop included a drinking water project at Manughat market, implemented by the DWS department at a cost of Rs. 16 lakh. The facility will be operated using solar energy.
In Thaibong, the District Magistrate visited the progressive pig farm run by Mrinal Kanti Das. Established in 2017 with just seven pigs, the farm now houses over 1,500 pigs and records monthly meat sales worth approximately Rs. 12 lakh in the Kalacherra market. Das also supplies piglets across the state. The District Magistrate praised the project as a model of rural entrepreneurship.
Speaking to the media at the Revenue Dak Bungalow after the inspection, the District Magistrate stated that the visit aimed to assess the progress of development projects, particularly those yet to be completed.
He emphasized the administration's commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in remote areas, in line with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s vision of ensuring rural connectivity.
The Zilla Sabhadhipati added that while many projects have been completed, land-related issues continue to delay some. He assured that necessary steps would be taken in coordination with the sub-divisional administration to resolve these matters.
