Stage set for ADC VC polls counting, around 2k personnel assigned

stage set for adc vc polls counting around 2k personnel assigned

The stage is all set for the counting of ballot boxes that will decide the destinies of 8,176 contestants participating in the high stakes TTAADC Village Committee elections. Around 2,000 officials had been assigned to conduct the counting in a proper manner in 45 counting halls set up in 45 counting venues. The counting shall begin at 8 am sharp on Monday, a senior official of the State Election Commission has said.

The security arrangements had been tightened in view of the counting with multiple layers of security cordons being put in place. Apart from central armed paramilitary forces, Tripura and Tripura State Rifles personnel shall also be deployed in the concerned areas for a robust security set up, SEC officials said.

On being asked when the results might get declared conclusively, the official said, “In certain areas counting may continue as long as the next morning because of higher concentration of VCs under the jurisdiction of those counting venues and halls. On the other hand, in other areas, the counting might get wrapped up by the evening.”

It has to be noted here that the VC elections hold political significance given the fact that BJP and Tipra Motha are fighting the elections together for the first time after stitching an alliance in 2024.

Both the parties had since been walked apart and the political dynamics between the two kept oscillating. However, after Tipra Motha’s meteoric performance in 2026 TTAADC polls, BJP high command intervened to get the differences resolved and both the parties agreed to contest the polls unitedly.

Even after that, the seat-sharing agreement couldn’t get materialised in letter and spirit across the VCs.

It should be noted here that An overall 81.21 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections held on September 28. Repolling was ordered in three polling stations of two VCs which was conducted on October 03.

The polling was by and large peaceful barring one firing incident at Gamaria under Udaipur subdivision.
