State Games mascot unveiled

The mascot of the Tripura State Games—a spectacled monkey holding a torch—was officially unveiled. The State Games will be held across the state from February 22 to 24, featuring 18 events. Nearly 3,000 athletes and officials will participate, said Tripura Olympic Association General Secretary Sujit Roy on Sunday at a press conference held in Agartala. Among others present were Chairman Ratan Saha, president Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar, Vice president Swapan Saha, and others.

Meanwhile, a selection camp for West District hockey team was held on Monday at the Swadesh Priya Nandi Hockey Ground in Badharghat. A total of 39 boys and 28 girls participated in the trials. From the camp, a 32-member West District team was formed. West District Hockey Association Secretary Ashish Deb announced the players’ names.

Selected players in the boys’ category are: Nayan Sarkar, Gaurab Das, Pritam Debnath, Arindam Debnath, Ashmit Acharya, Abhijit Chowdhury, Bibek Ray, Mithun Dey, Ajay Brahma, Khagendra Kalai, Gobinda Ray, Bapi Deb, Suman Sarkar, Debjit Das Malakar, Trishan Debnath and Shivapada Jamatia.

Selected players in the girls’ category are: Alisha Rankhal, G Kaipeng, Sridevi Tripura, Surabhi Reang, Alisha Debbarma, Nisha Jamatia, Eroza Debbarma, Kuhali Debbarma, Supriya Debbarma, Nabanita Dey, Hamari Debbarma, Sebika Debbarma, Rose Debbarma, Sumi Rishi Das, Chandrima Deb and Puja Das.
