State gets additional 1,30,695 houses under PMAY scheme

Agartala May 31: The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has allocated an additional 1,30,695 houses for the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme. State Tourism Minister Sushanta Choudhury announced the same in a press conference at the Secretariat here on Wednesday.
Thanking the central government, Choudhury said that out of all the northeastern states, Tripura received the highest number of houses from the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt of India.
He said, “Tripura has already been allotted 2 lakh 1 thousand houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana out of which most of the housing construction work has been completed and only 84,000 houses are under construction”.
The minister said that the construction of the remaining residences will also be completed at the earliest.
“The state has also got allocation of 87,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban project. Out of this, 53,000 houses have been constructed”, he added.
In the day’s press conference, the tourism minister expressed hope that the socio-economic status of the state will improve due to the allocation of additional housing for the state.
Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of sustainable housing for all will be realized.
