For Tripura, the Union Budget 2026–27 is more than a national financial plan; it is a promise of local transformation. Power, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday said the budget’s “progressive and inclusive” framework offers Tripura a pathway to prosperity, aligning the state’s priorities with India’s long-term vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Â
Nath pointed out that the Rs. 53.50 lakh crore outlay, an increase of Rs. 3.90 lakh crore from last year, carries tangible benefits for Tripura’s people. Farmers stand to gain from the Rs. 1.62 lakh crore earmarked for agriculture, with continued schemes and new emphasis on food processing expected to strengthen the state’s agrarian economy.
Â
Women in Tripura, he said, will see direct empowerment through the proposal to build 700 girls’ hostels across districts — a measure Nath described as a practical extension of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative that will encourage education and safety for young women in rural areas.
Â
Infrastructure expansion, including roads and railways, is expected to improve connectivity for Tripura, while increased health sector allocations promise better medical facilities for the state’s citizens. Renewable energy, with Rs. 32,214 crore set aside nationally, offers Tripura opportunities to advance in green power and reduce dependence on conventional sources.
Â
Nath also underlined the importance of national security, noting the Rs. 7.85 lakh crore defence allocation, but stressed that the collective participation of government, society, and citizens will be crucial in turning these budgetary promises into real gains for Tripura.
Â
“This budget is not just about figures,” Nath said. “It is about shaping opportunities for Tripura’s farmers, women, and youth, while contributing to India’s march towards 2047.”
