Agartala Nov 08: STGT qualified youths were detained by police on Tuesday when they came to meet the state education minister, Ratan Lal Nath demanding recruitment.
Reportedly, the unemployed qualified youths have cleared the STGT STPGT exam that was conducted for recruitment to the post of teachers in Tripura.
There is also sufficient number of vacancies and citing the same, the qualified youths met the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath and other ministers of the state cabinet including the finance minister cum deputy chief minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma.
On all previous occasions the ministers including Ratan Lal Nath assured them adding that, “If the finance department approves, the education department won’t have any issue in their recruitment”.
Based on this as the students met the finance minister they were once again assured that a file would be passed between the two departments and the jobless youths will be appointed as teachers.
But taking a complete U-turn from the assurances, the education minister told the youths that they will not be appointed now and a new notification will be issued for examination.
The youths raised several questions including; how many times, qualified candidates have to appear in examinations or pass the interviews to get a job?
Which law allows the Tripura government and the education department to take one exam twice when already the results have been published?
The resented unemployed youths once again gheraoed the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence on Tuesday, with a plea of recruitment.
However, a large contingent of police force rushed to the spot and arrested all the agitating youths.
The unemployed youths strongly condemned the incident and expressed anger against such role of the state government.
