Agartala Nov 22: Pressing for the demand of all together recruitment, more than 100 STGT qualified job aspirants on Tuesday once again gheraoed the state Education Minister’s residence.
However, allegations of police brutality were raised by the agitators as they launched a protest demanding answers to their questions from the state education minister who on earlier occasions promised them jobs.
Tuesday, once again hundreds of aspiring teachers protesting for jobs were forcefully arrested and put under detention.
The agitating youths including those who have successfully cracked the selection test for graduate teachers and would be directly posted for teaching the students of Class 9 and 10, gathered in front of Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence seeking all together recruitment.
However, police and TSR jawans were pressed into action to clear the protests and detain the agitators.
Meanwhile the agitators said, “We came here to know what is the status of our recruitment process”.
“The education minister said that he would pass on files to the finance department for approval. He also announced the same amid press briefings. But as we met the finance minister Jishnu Dev Varma, we came to know that the finance department has not received any such file yet”, added the agitating youths.
They further added, “We came all way walking in the scorching sun to know what is the real status of our recruitment process from the education minister”.
“Many schools are reeling under a severe crisis of teachers, which is the biggest stumbling block towards the state government’s slogan of ‘quality education’ for all”, said another agitating job aspirant.
The youths added, “All of us who have gathered here have cracked the exams securing marks above the qualifying ceiling. But we are not getting jobs due to reasons unknown to us. We have been running pillar to post for over a month now. Sometimes trying to meet the finance minister, sometimes the education minister and we have even talked to Cabinet spokesperson and ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury. The ministers have assured to help us but we haven’t seen any concrete steps for initiating the recruitment process so far”.
“We have come here to know if the government is considering giving us a remedy or if there is no scope of getting jobs. The education minister should give a clear answer. Until then our protests will continue here,” said protesters.
However, police and other security forces in action, dragged the protesting youths and put them in police vehicles and took them to AD Nagar Police Line.
The youths strongly condemned the role of police and slammed the state government and the cabinet ministers for taking complete U-turn from their promises.
