Suvendu Adhikari named next Bengal CM, Oath ceremony on Saturday

In a major political development in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari has been officially named as the next Chief Minister of the state after being elected leader of the BJP legislature party on Friday.

The decision was finalized during a BJP legislature party meeting in Kolkata attended by senior party leaders, newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who chaired the proceedings.

After the meeting, the Union Home Minister announced Suvendu Adhikari as the leader of the BJP legislature party in Bengal.

The BJP secured a thumping victory in Bengal winning 206 seats and ended the TMC rule.

The historic oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, May 9, at the iconic Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata, where Suvendu Adhikari will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal.

The event is expected to be attended by national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, and other dignitaries.

Preparations for the ceremony are underway, with extensive arrangements being made at the Brigade Parade Ground to host thousands of guests and supporters.

Organizers have set up seating and multiple entry points to manage the large crowd anticipated for this landmark political event.

The BJP’s decisive victory in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections has ended the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress in the state, marking a significant shift in the region’s political landscape.

This will be the first time the BJP forms the state government in West Bengal led by Suvendu Adhikari.
