A Swachhata Rath Yatra was flagged-off from the North Tripura district headquarters on Friday as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign, with an aim to strengthen public awareness on cleanliness, source-level waste segregation and responsible waste management.
The awareness campaign was formally inaugurated by Chandni Chandran, the District Magistrate and Collector, North Tripura, who flagged off the Rath from the district headquarters on October 2.
The Swachhata Rath will travel across different parts of the district over the next one week, engaging citizens and local communities and spreading awareness about the importance of segregating waste at source.
The campaign will also highlight the recent guidelines of the Supreme Court of India regarding four-way segregation of waste.
On the first day of the campaign, the Rath reached Panisagar where it was received by students, marking the beginning of the district-wide awareness drive.
The initiative seeks to encourage greater public participation in maintaining cleanliness and adopting responsible waste-management practices.
The District Magistrate urged the citizens to segregate waste at source and actively contribute towards keeping their neighbourhoods clean and hygienic.
