Symbol of Courage and Sacrifice: Tripura CM hails Netaji at NSV's grand rally in Agartala

The capital city witnessed a vibrant spectacle on Friday as Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan organized its iconic annual rally to commemorate the 129th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The event, deeply rooted in Tripura’s cultural and patriotic tradition, was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Mayor Dipak Majumder, alongside teachers, students, and thousands of enthusiastic spectators.

Beginning from the premises of Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan School, the rally traversed the streets of Agartala, showcasing colorful tableaux and thematic displays that celebrated Netaji’s life, the Indian National Army, and the broader freedom struggle. Social issues such as drug addiction, cultural performances, and historical references were also highlighted, reflecting the diverse spirit of the procession.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Manik Saha paid glowing tribute to Netaji, describing him as “a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and nationalism, and an inspiration to millions.” He expressed pride in joining the spirited procession and lauded the tireless efforts of the teachers and students of Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan in organizing the rally year after year.

“The rally is not just a celebration but a tribute to Netaji’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle. The dedication of the students and teachers is truly commendable,” the Chief Minister remarked.

Dr. Saha further emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has given Netaji and other freedom fighters the long-overdue respect they deserve, officially recognizing January 23rd as Parakram Diwas. He urged the youth to study Netaji’s life and ideals, drawing inspiration from his unwavering spirit of resistance against injustice.

Founded in 1948 to educate children of families displaced by Partition, Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan has carried forward the ideals of Bose with passion and pride. The first rally was held in 1951, and since then, it has become a hallmark of Agartala’s cultural calendar. This year marked the 74th edition of the procession, reaffirming its place as one of Tripura’s most awaited patriotic spectacles.

Thousands lined the streets of Agartala to witness the grand tableaux, waving flags and chanting slogans in honor of Netaji. The Azad Hind Flag, a symbol of Bose’s revolutionary spirit, was prominently displayed, reminding all of his indomitable fight for India’s independence.

In essence, Agartala’s annual Netaji rally continues to be more than a commemoration—it is a living tradition, a cultural landmark, and a heartfelt tribute to one of India’s greatest patriots.
