Taxpayers contributing to state's economic progress: Tripura CM

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today said that taxpayers are not only fulfilling their legal obligations but are also making a significant contribution to the state's economic progress and infrastructure development as responsible citizens.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee celebrations marking 50 years of the Taxex organization at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said the state government remains committed to building a more technology-driven, transparent and accountable taxation system in the coming years.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy attended the programme as the special guest.

During the event, the Chief Minister formally launched several digital initiatives, including the Tripura Integrated Network for Enforcement Tracking and Risk Analytics (TRINETRA), the TRUESIP App, the Excise Saathi Chatbot and Excise Connect.

The Finance Minister also introduced a new digital platform named SANKET aimed at making the State Tax and Excise Department more modern, transparent and citizen-friendly.

Describing the occasion as a historic milestone, the Chief Minister said that over the past 50 years, the Tax Department has not only collected revenue but has also played a crucial role in supporting the state's development, infrastructure projects, education, healthcare and various public welfare programmes.

He said the five newly launched digital platforms would help make the tax system more transparent, efficient and user-friendly, enabling taxpayers to complete procedures more quickly and conveniently.

Congratulating regular taxpayers, he said their contributions remain the backbone of the state's financial growth and development. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the department would continue to serve the people with greater efficiency, integrity and dedication in the future.

Addressing the gathering, the Finance Minister highlighted the department's achievements over the last five decades. He said that the combined efforts of tax officials, employees and taxpayers have significantly increased revenue collection in the state.

He added that the government has been giving special emphasis to creating a transparent and technology-based tax administration system, and the newly launched digital initiatives would further strengthen that objective. The Minister also urged citizens to continue paying taxes regularly for the overall development of the state.

As part of the celebrations, three of the state's top taxpayers were felicitated with mementoes by the Chief Minister.

A documentary showcasing the 50-year journey of the Tax Department was also screened during the programme. Finance Department Secretary Dr. Prashant Kumar Goel spoke on the department's achievements and evolution over the past five decades.

State Tax Department Chief Commissioner Chiranjib Anand delivered the welcome address. Commissioner of the Agartala Central Goods and Services Tax Commissionerate Kundan Yadav was also present. Additional Commissioner L. Rakhal delivered the vote of thanks.
