A shocking allegation of trafficking a teenage girl to Goa was reported from Tripura's Khowai district on Wednesday.Â
The victim's mother filed a written complaint at the Khowai Women Police Station after her 17-year-old daughter remained missing for nearly a week.
The incident was reported from Gopi Tilla village in the Sipaihaur area under Khowai police limit. According to family members, the teenage girl went missing suddenly from her home last Tuesday.
Despite extensive searches by relatives and local residents, no trace of the girl could be found. The family subsequently filed a missing report at the Khowai Women Police Station. The girl's mother reportedly visited the police station every day, pleading for help in locating her daughter.
The case took a dramatic turn when the mother learned that her daughter was allegedly being transported to Goa by train. Further inquiries revealed that a local resident, Tarun Tanti, and his son had also disappeared from the area around the same time the girl went missing.
Later, photographs circulating on social media allegedly showed the two men travelling on a train with the missing girl, reportedly heading toward Goa. Following the emergence of these images, the girl's mother rushed to the police station and lodged a formal complaint against Tarun Tanti and his son.
Police are now investigating the allegations and trying to find the whereabouts of the missing girl.
