Agartala July 23: NDA Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu on Thursday scripted history to become the first tribal leader to be elected as the President of India. Euphoric with the results of Presidential polls, Tripura  Pradesh Mahila Morcha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Saturday, the members and activists of BJP Mahila Morcha sent letter of thanks to the Prime Minister of India through the post office.

The leadership of Pradesh Mahila Morcha expressed thanks and gratitude to the Prime Minister for nominating an indigenous woman for the post of President of India and she sealed her victory in the Presidential election over opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha by crossing half-way mark and polling well over 53% votes by the end of third round itself.

The new President will be sworn in on July 25. “It is a matter of pride for women”, said Mahila Morcha leaders adding that this is an example of how women force will further advance in the coming days.

Saturday, not only from Agartala but also from different districts and mandals of the state, letters were sent thanking the Prime Minister.
