
After an intense three-day rescue operation, the body of Rakesh Shil was finally recovered from the river near Iishan Chandranagar School on Sunday morning around 11 a.m. The operation was carried out jointly by the NDRF, the second battalion of Gokulnagar CTI, and the TSR’s Underwater Deep Diving Team.

The discovery immediately drew police from Amtali Police Station and personnel from the Fire Department to the site. Family members, upon seeing the body, broke down in grief, and a pall of sorrow descended over the entire locality.

According to police, Rakesh Shil had drowned in the river near Ishan Chandranagar School last Friday. Rescue teams had been searching tirelessly since then, and only after continuous efforts was his body recovered on Sunday.

Authorities confirmed that all legal formalities will be completed before sending the body for post-mortem at Hapania Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, Amtali Police have already begun investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
