Three-day traditional Biju Utsav begins in Tripura

Agartala/ Gandachara Apr 13: The Biju Utsav is a traditional festival of the Chakma community which has been going on since ancient times.
This festival is celebrated every year. The State level 49th Biju Festival was held in Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala on Thursday. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the festival today in presence of Ministers Santana Chakma and Tinku Roy and others.
Our Gandachhera correspondent adds: Biju is observed for three days - Phul Biju, Mool Biju, and Gochchepoche Biju. Today was the first day and Phul Biju was observed. For the benefit of all living beings, a rally was organized today at the initiative of Dhalajhari Maitri Buddha Vihar Committee at Gandachhera.
After the rally, flowers were floated in the Sarma river as part of the observance of Phul Biju. After floating the flowers, devotees came together to Dhalajhari Maitri Buddhist Vihar. Buddhist Vandana and Bhikkhu Vandana followed by Panchsheel prayer were held there.
