Three Special Observers to arrive in poll-bound Tripura on Monday

Agartala, Jan 22: Three Special Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India will arrive in the state on Monday.
The Special Observers- Yogendra Tripathy (general), Vivek Johri (police) and B. Murali Kuma (expenditure) will hold a meeting with the high officials at State Guest House on January 24 and review the overall situation.
They are also scheduled to hold meeting with District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police and district-level nodal officers through video conference on the same day.
Meanwhile, they have been asked to take stock of the situation, ensure proper deployment of CAPF personnel, intensify enforcement measures and report back to the Commission, according to official sources.
Tripathy is an illustrious IAS officer retired as Secretary to Government of India having handled multifarious assignments both in the Centre and the State.
Johri, is an acclaimed IPS officer having served as DGP of Madhya Pradesh and extensive experience of handling central agencies as well as profound knowledge of the northeast and international security concerns.
B. Murali Kumar, an IRS officer of 1983 batch, performed duties as special Observer in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat assembly elections- 2022 and West Bengal assembly polls in 2021. Seizure of Rs. 800 crore was done in the last Gujarat assembly elections.
Tripura will go to assembly polls on February 16 next and the counting of votes will take place on March 02. Central Armed Paramilitary Forces already arrived in the state and started area domination as part of confidence building measures.
