Tipra Motha protests non functioning of VC office

Supporters and workers of the Tipra Motha Party staged a protest on Wednesday after the local Village Committee in Bhomrachhara ADC Village under Amarpur subdivision of Tripura was found to be non-functional for two consecutive days.

The protesters gathered in front of the Village Committee office in the morning and later locked its main gate as part of their demonstration.

According to the protesters, the absence of officials in the office has caused difficulties for people seeking various government services. They alleged that local villagers were facing problems in obtaining Record of Rights (RoR) documents, land mutation and transfer-related papers, as well as other official services.

Several people were reportedly forced to return without completing their work after finding the office closed, they claimed.

Tipra Motha leaders alleged that the matter had been brought to the attention of the authorities on several occasions, but no effective action had been taken so far. They said the protest was organised in the interest of the public and demanded that the office remain functional on a regular basis and that essential services be ensured.

The protest remained peaceful, though it led to tension in the area. Local administration officials have assured that the matter would be examined.

There was no immediate response from the Village Committee authorities regarding the allegations.
