Agartala Dec 05: Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress Student Wing activists took a swipe at the ruling BJP claiming that “Right to Education” is under threat ever since the saffron party came to power.
TMC activists laid siege in front of the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence here on Monday protesting against the broken down education system in the state under the BJP-led government.
Talking to the reporters from the spot of agitation, Shivam Saha, TMC State Student Wing president said, “Students’ rights are being looted in the broad daylight. The constitution of India gives us the right to education but the state BJP government is doing its best to keep away the students and youth from the light of education”.
“In the name of Vidyajyoti Scheme, poor parents of children across the state especially in the remote villages are looted by the state government. Every month many students are leaving schools for not being able to pay money”, he added.
The TMC activists further alleged, “A deep conspiracy is going on to keep the children away from studies. It seems like the BJP wants the students to be a part of its ‘Bike-Bahini’ and shift away from education”.
The student leaders of TMC raised slogans against the state education minister and chief minister while displaying banners like “Save the future of Tripura Students”, “RIP Tripura education system” and many more.
Later, a large contingent of Tripura Police and TSR personnel were deployed on spot.
Police acted upon to free the spot of agitation in front of education minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence and all the activists were detained by Police and taken to AD Nagar Police Line.
