"TMC is a Gone Case": Biplab Kumar Deb returns to Agartala amid jubilant celebrations after BJP's Bengal triumph

A triumphant Biplab Kumar Deb, former Chief Minister of Tripura and sitting Lok Sabha MP from West Tripura, was greeted with a thunderous welcome at MBB Airport on Tuesday as he returned from West Bengal after spearheading the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victorious election campaign.

The airport echoed with the beating of drums, chants of slogans, and showers of flower petals as jubilant party workers and leaders lined up to receive Deb. A massive garland and bouquets were offered to him at the arrival section, symbolizing the party’s gratitude for his role in the historic win.

Speaking to reporters, Deb who earlier declared with characteristic confidence “there is no defeat in my Kundali" said that TMC is a gone case. The people of West Bengal have given their verdict. He described the sweeping victory as a mandate for development, rejecting what he termed the politics of fear, appeasement and mismanagement.

Deb extended heartfelt congratulations to the “conscious and respected citizens of West Bengal” and saluted every BJP worker who contributed to the campaign. He credited the victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s strategic acumen, and the organizational guidance of BJP National President Nitin Nabin.

When asked about pre-poll remarks by Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, Deb dismissed them sharply: “They are gone case. The results themselves are the strongest answer.”

On the Election Commission’s decision to order repolling in the Falta Assembly seat of South 24 Parganas on May 21, Deb praised the move as commendable, noting that the ECI had rightly taken cognizance of electoral malpractices.

Responding to questions about his future responsibilities, Deb said with composure: “Whatever responsibility has been given to me by the senior leadership, I have fulfilled wholeheartedly. In future too, I will abide by the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. I also pray for their good health.”

On the question of who will be the next Chief Minister of West Bengal, Deb remarked that the decision rests with the party’s senior leadership and that time will reveal the choice. “Elections are just over. The leadership will decide,” he said.

The grand reception in Agartala underscored Deb’s rising stature within the BJP, as supporters hailed him not only as a leader of Tripura but also as a strategist whose role in Bengal’s political transformation will be remembered.
