Agartala, Oct 30: The state unit of Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday announced that a massive protest rally would be organized in Agartala on November 14 next to protest alleged breakdown of law and order.
Speaking to the media, TMC Tripura in-charge Rajib Banerjee said, the rally would commence from Gandhighat at 11 am and assemble near Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan where a public meeting would be held.
Citing an official report, he said, more than 2000 incidents of atrocities against women including 381 rape incidents have been registered in the state over the past two and half years. Banerjee alleged, the administration is maintaining a silence even as the number of rapes and other crimes against women is increasing.
To protest against deteriorating law and order and misrule of BJP, he said, the TMC would hold the protest programme on November 14.
He also announced, the state unit of TMC would conduct a door to door campaign with the slogans of ‘Tripurar Jonno Trinamool’ and ‘Ebar Egube Tripura’ at every assembly constituency of the state from November 1 to 6 next.
MP Susmita Dev, who also attended the press conference, said the BJP government failed to fulfil its promises made in the Vision Document. Sushasan (good governance) lies in posters only. Four incidents of rape were reported in nine days while two persons were shot- is this called Sushasan?, she questioned.
