TMS meeting: Tripura CM calls for stronger public outreach

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday directed officials to ensure the effective implementation of the state government's welfare schemes by strengthening public awareness, encouraging people's participation, and improving coordination among departments.

Chairing a Task Monitoring System (TMS) meeting through video conference from the Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister instructed district administrations and government departments to actively communicate the government's developmental initiatives and welfare programmes to the people.

He said the district administration, police, health, education and all other departments must work in close coordination while discharging their respective responsibilities to ensure efficient governance and better service delivery.

The primary objective of every welfare programme of the government is the overall development of the people. Officials at every level must maintain close contact with citizens and play a more proactive role in creating public awareness, the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha also stressed the need for stronger coordination among government departments while ensuring that information about various development projects and citizen-centric schemes reaches the grassroots.

He directed officials to give the highest priority to public interest during the execution of development projects.

The Chief Minister said citizens should not face inconvenience, including noise pollution or other disturbances, because of ongoing development works, and instructed the concerned departments to strictly adhere to prescribed standards and guidelines.

During the meeting, Dr. Saha reviewed the functioning of district hospitals across the state and issued necessary instructions for the smooth operation of the paediatric department at Kumarghat Hospital. He also sought updates on the malaria situation and other non-communicable diseases in Dhalai district, stressing the need for intensified public awareness campaigns and effective preventive measures.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the functioning of Primary Health Centres and directed officials to ensure quality healthcare services at the grassroots level.

Reviewing the education sector, he sought reports on the academic environment in schools, the quality of classroom teaching, and the implementation of the Mid-Day Meal programme. He instructed the concerned authorities to maintain high standards in all these services.

Dr. Saha further asked the departments concerned to ensure that beneficiaries under various social security schemes receive their pensions and allowances on time.

Emphasizing the importance of tourism, he urged District Magistrates to conduct regular field inspections to keep tourist destinations clean, well-maintained and attractive for visitors.

He also directed officials to regularly monitor power infrastructure across the state to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

Earlier, the Chief Minister's Secretary, Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, held a virtual interaction with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of all districts to review various aspects of the Task Monitoring System.

Secretaries of different departments, the Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
