
 A high-speed tomtom met with an accident on Friday morning in North Tripura’s Churaibari after the driver reportedly lost control while saving a stray dog on the road.
Seven school students were injured in the mishap. Condition of three is stated to be in serious.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 10:30 am near the Kurta tree area along the Assam-Agartala National Highway (NH-8) under Churaibari police station limits.
The vehicle, bearing registration number TR05A-2234 was travelling from Khasiapunj in Assam to Asen Hat English Medium School in North Tripura when the accident took place.Â
Eyewitnesses said the tomtom suddenly encountered a stray dog on the highway, following which the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned on the road.
Local residents rushed to the spot immediately and informed Churaibari police. Fire and emergency service personnel later arrived and shifted the injured students to Kadamtala Social Hospital for initial treatment.
After receiving first aid, the students were referred for advanced medical care. Subsequently, the school authorities and guardians took the injured students to the hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Doctors at the hospital stated that the condition of three students remains critical.
