Agartala, May 17: Tripura Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday visited Narkelkunja, one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the state.

Chowdhury, who enjoyed a boat ride in the beautiful Dumboor Lake, chaired a meeting with the officials of the Tourism department and discussed further development plans for making this site more attractive to the visitors.

After taking charge as the Minister for Tourism, Chowdhury has been extensively working to develop various tourist locations across the state. Chowdhury said, he was mesmerized by the endless beauty of Narkelkunja. 

Meanwhile, initiatives were already taken to develop five other islands of Dumboor region to attract more tourists. Several new facilities including water sports activities were introduced in this tourist destination over the past few years. Besides, helicopter service was also launched at Narkelkunja so that the tourists can enjoy a comfortable ride. 

Our Gandacherra correspondent added that a plan was under consideration for setting up a permanent police outpost in view of the safety of the tourists visiting Narkelkunja.
