As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, the District Administration of North Tripura carried out a tree plantation drive at Juri Jail Haat, reinforcing the message that cleanliness and greenery must go hand in hand.
Led by District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, officials along with Civil Defence Volunteers planted Alpine Pine saplings within the premises of Juri Jail Haat. The initiative followed a major cleanliness drive at the same location earlier in the week, symbolising a holistic approach to public space management—clean surroundings complemented by sustainable green cover.
The plantation drive was not merely symbolic but aimed at creating a long‑term ecological impact. Alpine Pine, chosen for its adaptability and environmental benefits, is expected to enhance the local landscape while contributing to improved air quality and biodiversity.
DM Chandni Chandran emphasised that the integration of cleanliness campaigns with tree plantation reflects a broader vision of sustainable development.
By combining sanitation with afforestation, the administration hopes to inspire citizens to view cleanliness and environmental stewardship as interconnected responsibilities, she said.
Civil Defence Volunteers played a key role in the plantation, underscoring the importance of community involvement in government initiatives. Their participation highlighted how grassroots engagement can amplify the impact of official programmes.
District officials expressed hope that the saplings planted at Juri Jail Haat will grow into a green canopy, serving as a living reminder of the campaign’s dual focus on cleanliness and ecological balance.
