Tripura achieves remarkable success in paddy production this year, says Minister Ratan Lal Nath

Tripura has recorded significant progress in paddy cultivation this year, according to Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

During his visit to farmer Bishnupada Adhikari’s paddy field in Lankamura, West Tripura, on Friday, the minister joined farmers in harvesting activities and praised the region’s agricultural output.

Speaking at the site, Minister Nath said, “Lankamura is a fertile zone where farmers cultivate vegetables, flowers, and multiple varieties of crops. With government support, Bishnupada Adhikari has grown six varieties of paddy—including black rice, Harinarayan, Kali Khasha, Binni, and Basmati—across five kani of land. The harvest season has now begun, and we are here to encourage the farmers and mark the start of the harvest.”

He further stated that paddy yield across the state has been highly satisfactory this year. “Three districts and 30 blocks in Tripura have already achieved self-sufficiency in food grain production. With favorable weather, we are hopeful that Khowai and Dhalai districts will soon join this list,” he added.

Highlighting his personal connection to farming, the minister said, “I have experience in paddy harvesting and understand the hard work of our farmers. Plans are underway to supply modern agricultural machinery to ease the harvesting process.”

Minister Nath also noted that India is now exporting rice, fish, milk, and other agricultural products in large quantities. “Agriculture is the backbone of our society and economy. Supporting our farmers is not just a duty—it’s a collective responsibility,” he concluded.
