Tripura: BJP claims CPI-M set fire to its party offices

Belonia Nov 03: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday accused the opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) of setting fire to its offices and ransacking equipments in Satmura and Amjad Nagar areas of Belonia.
Reportedly, on late Wednesday night, Belonia Rishyamukh mandal, Satmura BJP mandal office was set ablaze by miscreants.
Mandal vice-president Badal Bhowmik alleged that CPI-M miscreants organized the attack.
Apart from this, Rishyamuk Mandal's Amjad Nagar BJP party office was also set on fire Wednesday night.
Local BJP leaders alleged that the CPI-M has an evil intention to create unrest in the region in the run-up to the upcoming elections.
However, the common people of the area have a different opinion.
According to local sources, cultural program to mark 50 years of The New Star Club was going on in Satpura area till late on Wednesday night. Locals believe that this incident happened due to a infight within the ruling party members.
Moreover, there are no organizations of other opposition parties in the area that would dare to set fire to the BJP party office.
Sources added, a tussle was going on between the two mandal presidents, former Asesh Baidya and the current president Sushankar Bhowmik which has probably resulted into such incident of arson.
However, Belonia police reached the spot on Thursday morning as is investigating the incident.
