Tripura BJP holds crucial meeting ahead of ADC polls

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday held a crucial meeting in view of the ensuing elections. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, BJP Tripura Pradesh President Rajib Bhattacharjee jointly chaired the meeting in the presence of other leaders and party office bearers. A group of MLAs and the leaders from different frontal wings also attended the meeting.

Speaking to the media persons after the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said, “The meeting was called to discuss the party’s strategy for the forthcoming elections. We have elections for the TTAADC and the local bodies next year. During the meeting, we exchanged views regarding various issues related to the elections and reviewed our preparedness.”

On being asked about possibilities of alliance with Tipra Motha party, Dr Saha said, “We have discussed only about our party.”

Meanwhile, sources in the party said that the meeting was convened to discuss the preliminary feedback report received from the observers appointed for the 28 TTAADC constituencies.

“In each constituency, observers had been appointed to review the organisational strength and weaknesses. The observers are conducting interactions with workers of different organisational positions to understand the ground realities and their report was put up in the meeting,” a leader of the BJP who wished not to be named said.

On being asked about the findings of the report, he said, “The report which reached the party headquarter is found to be a bit incomplete. In certain areas, our observers couldn’t reach out due to some communication gaps. So, the party decided to extend the time period for submission of the report by a week. Next week, a similar meeting will be convened to discuss the final report of the preliminary organisational survey.”
