Tripura Boy Pragyat Prasun's AI Innovation promises safer, smarter farming

Tripura’s young innovator Pragyat Prasun, a robotics enthusiast and world record holder from Badharghat, has unveiled a revolutionary AI-powered plant disease detection system at the prestigious AI Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Prasun’s system combines computer vision and machine learning algorithms to identify crop diseases in their earliest stages. “By detecting diseases early, farmers can take preventive measures that could save entire harvests and reduce the need for excessive pesticide use,” he explained during his presentation.

The technology promises to make farming safer, smarter, and more sustainable by reducing chemical dependency, protecting yields, and cutting costs for farmers.

This latest breakthrough adds to Prasun’s impressive portfolio of practical solutions. He previously gained national recognition for his sewage-cleaning robot, which won first place at the National Science Exhibition. His ongoing projects include ice-based cooling systems for AI data centers and a firefighting drone for tall buildings.

Prasun’s achievements extend beyond technology — he holds five world records, two India Book of Records entries, and one Asia record in yoga, reflecting his pursuit of excellence across diverse fields. His interactions with leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha have positioned him as a rising voice in India’s innovation ecosystem.

Agricultural experts at the summit praised the system’s potential to strengthen food security worldwide. The innovation has already attracted interest from agri-tech companies, research institutions, and government agencies, aligning with India’s push for digital agriculture and sustainable farming practices.

“Technology should serve humanity by solving real-world problems,” Prasun remarked. “Whether it’s cleaning sewage, cooling data centers, fighting fires, or protecting crops, AI has the power to make life better for everyone.”

With his groundbreaking plant disease detection system, Pragyat Prasun has once again demonstrated how innovation from Tripura can make a global impact, paving the way for a future of safer and smarter farming.
