Tripura on Monday cancelled a scheduled programme of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in Gomati district as part of India’s nationwide observance of mourning for Qatar’s former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al‑Thani.Â
Â
The Government of India had declared July 13 a day of national mourning following Sheikh Hamad’s passing on July 12.
Â
In accordance with the directive, the National Flag was flown at half‑mast across government buildings in Tripura, and all official entertainment events were suspended. The cancellation of the Chief Minister’s inauguration programme underscored the state’s adherence to the solemn national order.
Â
The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the mourning was a mark of respect for Sheikh Hamad, whose leadership shaped Qatar’s modern trajectory.Â
Â
Tripura’s observance reflected both solidarity with the national decision and recognition of India’s diplomatic ties with Qatar.
Â
The mourning will remain in effect for the day, with flags restored to full mast thereafter.
