Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections as a landmark moment, describing it as the people’s rejection of “fear psychosis” and their embrace of change.
Â
Speaking at a massive victory rally in Agartala, Dr. Saha said the verdict had fulfilled the hopes of citizens not only in Bengal but across India. “This is not just Bengal’s victory, it is India’s victory. The people of Bengal have broken free from an atmosphere of fear and misrule. They wanted change, and they have achieved it,” he told supporters.
Â
Dr. Saha credited the outcome to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the strategic direction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the organizational strength of BJP National president J.P. Nadda. He emphasized that the combined efforts of central leaders, BJP Chief Ministers, and grassroots workers across the country had made the victory possible.
Â
The Chief Minister also highlighted BJP’s strong performance in Assam, Puducherry, Kerala, and Tripura’s Dharmanagar by-election, noting that the party’s expanding footprint reflects a nationwide demand for stability, peace and development. He alleged that West Bengal had long suffered under “goondaraj, misrule and scams” under successive governments, but the people had now decisively rejected that politics.
Â
“People want peace, security, and good governance. You cannot run a state through fear and corruption. This mandate is crucial for the security and future of the country,” Dr. Saha said.
Â
He further congratulated the people of West Bengal for what he termed a “historic change”, while praising BJP workers from Tripura who campaigned in Bengal during the elections.
Â
State BJPÂ president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Ministers Tinku Roy, Kishor Barman, MLAs and other Office Bearers took part in the day's grand victory rally that traversed prime city routes.Â
