Tripura CM flags-off lorry carrying relief materials for Manipur

Agartala, May 17: The Tripura unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has sent relief materials for the people of violence-hit Manipur on Wednesday.
A lorry carrying the relief materials including foods and other essential commodities was flagged-off by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in front of state BJP office.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that around 25 tons of relief items were sent to Manipur in this vehicle.
He said, the relief items would be handed over to the Manipur unit of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Meanwhile, Manipur was affected and temporary relief camps were set up following an ethnic violence. Around 250 students of Tripura who were studying in the violence-hit state were brought back by the state government in view of their safety.
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy in a social media post commented Manipur was gradually returning to normalcy though a good number of people were still in the relief camps.
The Chief Minister stood with the people of Manipur with an appeal for peace and tranquillity, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, chairman of TIDC Nabadal Banik, BJP state general secretary Papia Dutta and others were present.
