Agartala, Aug 12: Along with Agartala, Tripura government is also committed for development of rural areas, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Addressing a programme in the city on Friday, Dr. Saha said, after completion of Agartala Smart City works, the government would start working in all urban bodies across the state for introducing new facilities.
The Chief Minister was addressing the people after launching three projects implemented at Banamalipur under the Agartala Smart City Mission at the cost of Rs. 14.55 crore.
The three projects included- upgradation of MBB College road from Math Chowmuhani to College Gate, underground cable of 11KV LT line from Math Chowmuhani to MBB College Gate and development of three water bodies.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in implementing the Smart City works.
Dr. Saha said, the three projects reflected successful implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East Policy. He also highlighted the major initiatives undertaken as part of the Agartala Smart City mission.
The way the MBB college road has been upgraded, it can be used as model for the development of other roads of the city, he said.
The former Chief Minister said, Agartala has been included in the Smart City project due Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sincere approach.
He said, more than Rs.1000 crore would be spent for development of the city under the Smart City Mission, out of the total fund, Rs. 667 crore would be spent in Banamalipur alone. He also stressed on proper maintenance of the new infrastructures.
Urban Development Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, MLA Dr. Dilip Das, CEO of Agartala Smart City Limited Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and others were present in the programme.
