Key Highlight: In his meeting with the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, the Chief Minister emphasized the declaration of MBB airport as an international airport and direct flights with Mumbai, Hyderabad.
Agartala, Apr 24: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha called on two Union Ministers in New Delhi on Monday and discussed various important issues including air connectivity, women and child development.
In his meeting with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Chief Minister apprised him of the pending proposals and emphasized on declaration of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala as an international airport and installation of Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya’s statue at the new airport terminal.
During his interaction with the Union Aviation Minister, the Chief Minister also placed a demand for introducing direct flight connectivity from Agartala to Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Besides, he also demanded operation of night flights and re-introduction of air cargo services from MBB Airport.
The discussions also included operationalization of existing Kailashahar Airport, construction of heliports in six tourist locations and development of Greenfield Airport at Hiracherra.
In his meeting with another Union Minister- Smriti Irani, the Chief Minister held discussions on setting up of a 100-Bedded Multi Speciality Hospital in Agartala for the women and children and sanction of three new ICDS projects for three aspirational blocks- Raishyabari, Silachari and Ganganagar.
The Chief Minister also proposed enhancement/ revision of cost norms for supplementary nutrition under Anganwadi Centres, operationalization of non-operational AWCs and funds for renovation of existing AWCs.
The Chief Minister also requested both the Union Ministers for approval of the state’s proposals pending with their respective ministries.
Later in the evening, the Chief Minister also called on Union Minister for Industries and Commerce Piyush Goyal and held discussions on the state’s development including trade opportunities.
