tripura cm proposes formation of coordination committee to strengthen border management in tripura

Agartala, Sept 13: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the formation of a coordination committee involving the state administration, police and Border Security Force (BSF) to further strengthen security along the state’s international border.

Speaking to reporters after attending a blood donation camp organised by the Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala in collaboration with the Border Security Force at Shalbagan BSF headquarters, the Chief Minister stressed the need for closer coordination among the agencies responsible for border management. IG BSF Tripura Frontier Prince Rani was present on this occasion.

Dr. Saha also informed the media that a pilot project of smart border initiative was underway in Sepahijala district. Tripura is surrounded by international border with Bangladesh in three sides. In terms of border management, the proposed coordination committee may become beneficial, he noted.

Dr. Saha said border security is a matter of paramount importance and emphasised that regular communication and coordinated efforts among the state administration, police and BSF would help in responding swiftly to any emerging security situation.

He also called for heightened vigilance in border areas to prevent illegal activities, smuggling and other criminal activities through the international border.

The proposed coordination mechanism, he said, would facilitate more effective joint efforts among the concerned agencies.

The Chief Minister further underlined the need to strengthen security for people living in border areas, maintain law and order and improve administrative preparedness in vulnerable areas.

He said a coordinated approach involving all relevant agencies would be essential for ensuring comprehensive security along the border and addressing challenges in a timely and effective manner.
