
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AIIMS, New Delhi and the Government of Tripura.Â
The review was held through a video conference with AIIMS Director M. Srinivas and other senior officials on Wednesday last.
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, the ATR was prepared and presented on January 28, 2026, following the MoU signed on October 17, 2025, between AIIMS, New Delhi and the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department.
Under the MoU, several key administrative reforms are underway and partially implemented, including the formation of a consolidated workforce, enhancement of financial powers, development of IT-enabled systems, and steps towards establishing a Health University. Recruitment of manpower is being carried out as per existing government rules through the Health Department and the Tripura Public Service Commission.
In coordination with AIIMS, initiatives have begun for faculty development, training and skill upgradation. To strengthen medical education and academic standards, new departments have been introduced, skill development courses launched, service rules amended, and training at AIIMS facilitated.
On hospital services and infrastructure, work is in progress on strengthening emergency services, expansion of ICUs, operationalization of operation theatres, induction of modern equipment under the PPP model, and improvement of supply chain systems.
For patient satisfaction and digital initiatives, the state already uses the ‘Mera Hospital’ app, while coordination is underway to adopt AIIMS’ ‘Santusht’ app to systematically collect patient feedback and further improve service quality.
The Health and Family Welfare Department reiterated its commitment, in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi, to the overall improvement of medical education and healthcare services in Tripura.
Besides the Chief Minister, the meeting was attended by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Director Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education H.P. Sharma, Joint Director Rajesh Anil Acharya, Medical Superintendent of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital Bidhan Goswami, and Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Tapan Majumdar.
