Tripura CM to focus investment, regional connectivity at NEC Plenary

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is set to participate in the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong on June 4, where regional development, infrastructure expansion and economic growth are expected to dominate discussions among the northeastern states.

The high-level meeting, to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will bring together Governors, Chief Ministers and senior government officials from across the Northeast to review developmental priorities and strengthen inter-state cooperation.

The Chief Minister earlier informed the media that he will make two important presentations during the upcoming meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC). One presentation will focus on strategies to attract greater investment to the Northeast, while the other will deal with regional connectivity challenges and infrastructure development.

During the session, Dr. Saha is expected to present Tripura's perspectives on enhancing investment opportunities and accelerating infrastructure development in the region. His discussions may also focus drug menace and cross-border crimes.

The Chief Minister will also underline the need for robust connectivity networks, stressing that improved road, rail, air and digital infrastructure are crucial for unlocking the economic potential of the region. 

His presentation is likely to focus on addressing existing connectivity gaps and promoting seamless movement of goods and people across northeastern states.

Officials from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), NITI Aayog and other central agencies are expected to take part in the deliberations.

The NEC plenary is regarded as one of the most significant policy forums for the Northeast, providing a platform for states to discuss development strategies, regional cooperation and future growth initiatives aimed at transforming the region's economic landscape.
