Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday urged people to place greater trust in government healthcare facilities and avoid unnecessary expenditure by seeking treatment in private hospitals outside the state.
Emphasising the state government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare, Dr. Saha said that efforts are underway to minimise out-of-pocket medical expenses for residents by strengthening treatment facilities within the state.
Addressing the 65th edition of the ‘Mukhyamantri Samipeshu’ programme at his official residence, the Chief Minister said that advanced medical infrastructure has been developed in referral hospitals, enabling complex procedures—including kidney transplants—to be successfully conducted within Tripura.
During the programme, several individuals from different parts of the state approached the Chief Minister seeking medical and other assistance. Among them were Kanika Sarkar Biswas from Lembuchhara in Mohanpur subdivision, who sought help for her daughter’s complex heart ailment, and Namita Debnath, a Class 10 student from Nutannagar, who requested assistance for her father’s kidney-related treatment.
After hearing their grievances, the Chief Minister immediately directed concerned officials to arrange advanced medical care at the earliest. Similar appeals were made by Roson Sinha from Ishakpur in Kailashahar, Paresh Chandra Reang from Kula in Dhalai district, and Manasi Debbarma from Borkathal in Mohanpur, all seeking assistance for critical treatments.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure prompt treatment and free medicines for the patients. Several others, including Shyamal Chowdhury from Bardowali, college student Payel Dhar from Dukli block, and Liton Saha from Ranirbazar, also sought help for medical and related issues. He assured them of necessary support.
In addition, Madhab Ranjan Deb from Gorkhabasti raised a housing-related concern, to which the Chief Minister assured appropriate action.
Senior officials including Secretary Kiran Gitte and Apurba Roy, along with representatives from healthcare, were present during the Chief Minister’s interaction programme.
Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Samipeshu’ initiative, the Chief Minister is bringing the government closer to the people by directly addressing public grievances and instructing officials to take prompt action, a move that has significantly benefited citizens—particularly by facilitating timely access to healthcare support and assistance.
