Tripura Congress pushes for MGNREGA dues & rural jobs before Durga Puja

In a bid to address pressing concerns of rural workers, a delegation from the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee submitted a deputation to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sadar, on Tuesday. The delegation emphasized two key demands aimed at safeguarding the livelihoods of laborers and farmers ahead of the upcoming Sharad Utsav festivities.

The demands presented include:

Immediate clearance of all pending and rightful wages for MGNREGA workers before the start of Sharad Utsav.

Provision of a minimum of 10 days of employment for rural laborers, agricultural workers, and economically disadvantaged men and women—beyond MGNREGA schemes.

Speaking to the media, one of the representatives highlighted that these demands were previously submitted to the Chief Minister on September 6, along with other public interest issues.

“The Chief Minister assured us that appropriate steps would be taken before Sharad Utsav. We now expect immediate and effective action,” the representative stated.

The Congress delegation underscored the urgency of the situation, stressing that timely intervention is crucial to ensure financial stability for rural communities during the festive season.
