Tripura: Father alleges Police inaction after Daughter's abduction

A disturbing case of alleged police inaction has surfaced in Baikhora, where the family of a missing minor girl has accused local authorities of failing to act decisively in an abduction case. The incident has triggered widespread concern and raised serious questions about accountability in law enforcement.

According to reports, on June 23, the daughter of Pradip Banik, a resident of Swadeshnagar under Baikhora Police Station, was abducted while on her way to private tuition. The family promptly lodged a written complaint at Baikhora Police Station the same day. However, weeks have passed without any breakthrough, leaving the father desperate and turning to the media for help.

Pradip Banik has alleged that his daughter was abducted by Samrat Bhadra, son of Tapan Bhadra of Maransur Para near the Baikhora SSB camp. Despite providing this information to the police, Banik claims that Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Chandra Das has remained a “silent spectator,” failing to take effective action.

Concerns have also been raised about the OC’s long tenure—nearly five years at Baikhora Police Station—during which allegations of covering up various criminal activities have surfaced. The current case has intensified scrutiny, with locals questioning whether the officer’s inaction is undermining justice in the region.

The distraught father has appealed for immediate intervention, demanding that his daughter be rescued and that strict action be taken against the alleged abductor.
