Agartala, Oct 31: Responding to emergency calls, Tripura Fire Service personnel saved 12,928 lives and properties worth Rs. 170.20 crore in four years—from 2018 to 2021, according to an official report.
The report said, the Fire Service personnel attended total 5004 calls—1223 in 2018, 1315 in 2019, 1254 in 2020 and 1212 calls in 2021. Based on the calls, they made prompt response and saved 3272 lives in 2018, 3339 lives in 2019, 3273 lives in 2020 and 3044 lives in 2021.
Speaking to the media, secretary of Fire and Emergency Services department- Apurba Roy said, several new technologies like Jumping Cushion, Under Water Diving Suit, Fire Ball, Ultra High Pressure Mini Fire Tender, Selectable Flow Nozzle and Plastic Rescue Stretcher have been introduced during this period for fire fighting and rescuing.
Roy said, the state government recently allocated funds under Special Assistance- Capital (SAC) for construction of permanent buildings for five fire stations at Manubazar, Damcherra, Ampi, Raishyabari and Chawmanu.
He also said, in order to ensure safety of lives and properties, the department also carried out Fire Safety Audit in hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, LPG storages, schools, colleges and shopping malls for the first time.
According to Roy, 79 Fire Service personnel of Tripura have been nominated for undergoing different professional courses under National Fire Service College, Nagpur over the past four years.
Highlighting the major initiatives, he said, all 50 fire stations of the state have been computerized during July-August this year in order to promote the ‘Ease of Doing Business Scheme’. Besides, 251 eligible employees of the department have been given ad-hoc promotion to the higher posts.
He said, the newly-built TFES Training Schools at Badharghat would be inaugurated soon. Annual dress allowance has been sanctioned for the Operational Staff of the department from the current financial year.
Director of Fire and Emergency Services- Anindya Bhattacharjee was also present in the press conference.
