Agartala Dec 05: Tripura Fire Service Training School, the first of its kind in entire North East for imparting training to the Civil Defence volunteers and Firefighters was inaugurated on Monday by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
The chief minister also unveiled a booklet describing the achievements of the fire department in the last four and a half years.
Minister of Fire and Emergency services, Ram Prasad Paul, Badharghat MLA Mimi Majumder, Secretary, Fire and Emergency Services, Govt. of Tripura, Apurba Roy and other dignitaries also remained present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said, “This is just the beginning. With tiny steps, the training school will reach milestones in near days. Good faculty, training for not only state students but outer states will also be encouraged in the premises”.
“If needed the building and area will be expanded in future”, he added.
The chief minister further added, “Built at a cost of around 3.18 crores, this training center with all modern facilities will play a very important role in the welfare of the region”.
The chief minister lauded the work done by fire fighters and civil defense personnel during the tough times of natural disasters and Covid-led pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Fire and Emergency services, Ram Prasad Paul admired the selfless effort and relentless service of the fire fighters.
He said, “Not only in putting down fire but in case of all emergencies starting from accidents to natural disasters, the firefighters are doing a commendable job”.
Meanwhile, a training program of life saving and rescue for civil defence volunteers was also inaugurated at the Badharghat Fire Service Complex here on Monday.
Fire fighters and civil defence personnel displayed various ways to cope with emergency situations in several outlets.
Three firemen namely, Debashish Shil, Dilip Tripura and Babul Mia, who were severely injured on-duty at Sabroom and are currently undergoing treatment were felicitated on behalf of the Fire and Emergency Service Department for their meritorious work.
Tripura chief Minister Dr Manik Saha handed over the award and certificate to Fireman Debashish Shil’s wife who attended the event on behalf of her husband.
“I commend the bravery of the fire department personnel for risking their own lives to protect the lives and property of others”, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Besides, Firemen of various genres were also facilitated for achieving excellence in their jobs by the dignitaries present at the occasion.
