Agartala, Sept 30: The state government’s goal is to deliver quality healthcare up to the last mile of the society, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

“The government is very sensitive towards the overall development of health services. We have taken various steps to ensure quality healthcare,” the Chief Minister said.

He was addressing the state-level programme organized to mark five years completion of Ayushman Bharat- Jan Arogya Yojana and two years completion of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala.

He said, the world’s largest health scheme- Ayushman Bharat introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given a new direction in ensuring healthcare to the economically weaker section across the country and the poor section in Tripura is also receiving the benefits.

“A total of 13,40,172 Ayushman cards have been issued in Tripura till August, this year and 2,54,511 beneficiaries have already availed the medical benefits. Among them, 3,993 beneficiaries have received treatment outside the state,” the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, Tripura has received awards from the central government four times for successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat. As of now, 129 government healthcare facilities and 4 private hospitals have been enlisted with the scheme.

He also spoke about Ayushman Bharat- Digital Mission. Under this initiative, 5,37,671 Ava cards have been issued in Tripura so far.

Health secretary Dr. Debashis Basu, central health official Dr. L. Swasticharan, Health Service director Dr. Supriya Mallik and other dignitaries attended the programme.

A good number of beneficiaries under AB-PMJAY have been felicitated and various hospitals/ healthcare institutions have been awarded for successful implementation of the scheme. South Tripura district unit has been awarded as the best unit in the state.

In the meantime, Tripura has been awarded at the national level for highest percentage of utilization in public hospitals during Ayushman Arogya Manthan held in New Delhi on September 25-26 last.
