Tripura govt adopts Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs: CM

Agartala, Nov 10: Tripura government adopted Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Thursday.
The Chief Minister, who chaired state-level meeting of Narco Co-ordination Centre (NCORD) at the civil secretariat, said everyone must come together in order to build a drug-free Tripura.
He said, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently mentioned about adopting Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs and the state government is working with the same vision.
The Chief Minister passed an instruction to the concerned departments to work in cooperation towards achieving the goal of Neshamukt Tripura. He also emphasized upon usage of scanners in check posts and increasing the strength of dog squads.
Dr. Saha also laid emphasis on taking necessary action against the drugs dealers.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha said, Tripura is performing well in the campaign against drugs. There would be no compromise with drugs. He sought cooperation from the Narcotics Control Bureau in this regard.
Northeast Deputy Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau- Monica Ashish Batra said, the central government has given its consent for opening zonal office of NCB in Tripura and an initiative would soon be taken in this regard.
Director General of Police- Amitabh Ranjan discussed the role of the police administration in the drive against drugs.
Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of various departments including Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau, Guwahati- Sudhangshu Kumar Singh also took part in the meeting.
