Agartala, May 27: The Tripura government is investing Rs.1000 crore for the promotion of the state as a major national and international tourist destination, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
He said, the tourism promotion plan includes improvement of the last mile connectivity, creation of accommodation facilities, development of infrastructure in tourist destinations and strengthening the manpower skills engaged in this sector.
Addressing the 8th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said his government is going to launch “Tripura Medical Tourism Policy” soon to promote Tripura as a centre of wellness tourism by incentivizing setting up of ayurvedic parks, panchakarma centres, yoga and wellness retreats and naturopathy centres.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Niti Aayog meeting at Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan on the theme 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Role of Team India'. Union Ministers including Amit Shah, Rajntah Singh, Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman along with Chief Ministers and Lt Governors of various states joined the meeting.
In his address, Dr. Saha also spoke about the state government’s plans for development of the industrial sector.
“The State has also identified over 2000 acres of land for industrial development, Public Private Partnership Projects, Special Economic Zone projects and Sector Specific Projects on Rubber, Agar, Bamboo and Food Processing etc. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to extend loan to the State Government to upgrade 15 Industrial Estates”, he said.
In another important point, the Chief Minister said, the State Government substantially increased its Capital Expenditure from Rs. 835 crore during 2020-21 to Rs. 2200 crore in the financial year 2022-23, with annual growth of about 62 per cent.
Besides, he said, a total of 8 projects of Rs. 109.19 crore have been identified and sent to the concerned ministry for promotion of Industry and internal trade. Among them, 4 projects of Rs.35 crore have already been sanctioned by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. In this context, he said, the Tripura Integrated Logistics Policy, 2022 has already been framed and notified on January 16 last.
The Chief Minister also spoke in various initiatives on skill development, health and nutrition, women empowerment including SHG, infrastructure, MSMEs and other sectors.
In his concluding remark, the Chief Minister said, he is confident that under the inspiring and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura would emerge as a developed state in the coming days.
